Amantani Island

Attractions & Activities In Puno & Lake Titicaca

Amantani island offers even more home stay opportunities for those on private Lake Titicaca tours. The island, also on the Peruvian portion of the lake, is home to about 4,000 residents and has a less developed tourist economy than Taquile.

Two towering peaks, Pachamama (Mother Earth) and Pachatata (Father Earth), give the island its distinctive appearance. Each mountain is crowned with Inca and Tiahuanaco ruins, which can be reached by a hiking trail and provide sweeping views of the lake. On the island’s annual festival day on January 20, locals traditionally hold a race to ensure the fertility of the coming year’s crops. The island is also speckled with brilliantly red cantuta blooms, Peru’s national flower.

Immerse yourself in local traditions with an overnight home stay on Amantani island.  At Kuoda Travel, all trips are custom and personally designed for you by one of our professional travel experts.  Contact us today and get your free Peru trip quote.
