Many visitors wrongly assume that the Galapagos Islands is all sunny skies and warm temperatures. The truth is the weather here is a lot more unpredictable, with three major marine currents – the Humboldt Current (cold), the Panama Current (warm) and the Equatorial Undercurrent (also warm) – coming into play.
That’s not to say that it’s all storms and gloomy skies here. In fact, temperatures remain mostly mild year-round. The warmer ‘wet’ season lasts from December until May: the mercury frequently reaches 30 degrees Celsius during this period and, despite the season’s foreboding name, blue skies and sunshine are common. The dry season, from June through to November, experiences greater cloud cover and the inland regions are often shrouded in mist, though water and air temperatures remain at a pleasant average of around 22 degrees Celsius.
