ITINERARY

Day 1 - Santiago

Welcome to Chile / Introduction to the City

Home to a variety of seafood and marvelous Cabernet Sauvignon, Santiago is considered as the safest city in South America. Capital of Chile, the country of the extremes, it is the perfect base to explore the country, or just enjoy a few days between the mountains and the ocean.
Today discover the vivid capital of Chile and learn more about its eventful past through the most important sites of Santiago de Chile.

Day 2 - Valparaiso

Valparaiso / Viña del Mar

Discover the quirky town of Valparaíso and stroll through bohemian neighborhoods that offer spectacular views over the Pacific Ocean. This picturesque city was declared World Heritage by UNESCO.

Visit Casablanca Valley on the way to Valparaiso and learn about the winemaking process of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. After tasting delicious wines, discover the quirky town of Valparaíso and stroll through Viña del Mar, a jet set resort of yesteryear.

Day 3 - Santiago - Torres del Paine

Travel to Patagonia

At the appropriate time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight south.Upon arrival, you will transfer to Torres del Paine National Park. At Tierra Patagonia you will be contacted by the hosts so that you can choose from the menu of activities available for the following dates.

Day 4 - Torres del Paine

Activities Offered by your Lodge

Today you will be able to choose from the activities offered by Tierra Patagonia.Our suggested activity for today is Mirador Cuernos.

After a scenic drive, passing by the Sarmiento and Nordenskjöld viewpoints, we arrive at the starting point. The terrain is fairly flat with only one steeper part, and we can always see the “cuernos” or horns of Paine in front of us. We visit the “Salto Grande” or “Big Waterfall” and continue along the shores of Lake Nordenskjöld. On arrival at the viewpoint, you can appreciate from close up the geology that formed the massif.

Day 5 - Torres del Paine

Activities Offered by your Lodge

Today you will be able to choose from the activities offered by Tierra Patagonia.

Our suggested activity for today is Hunters Trail.

This trek starts gradually, winding its way northwards, with the Paine Massif as a constant companion. Half way through we will visit a rocky area where there are cave paintings from the Aonikenk, hunter-gatherer native Indians that occupied this area some 6,000 years ago. It is also one of the best areas to see wildlife such as guanacos, foxes and condors.

Day 6 - North to San Pedro

Flight to San Pedro de Atacama

At the appropriate time you will have a transfer from Tierra Patagonia to Punta Arenas, from where you fly to San Pedro de Atacama.Upon arrival, you will be taken to Explora Lodge. Explora Atacama is located in Ayllu de Larache (initially a community based on the kinship of the ancient Aymara people), near the village of San Pedro de Atacama.

Day 7 - Explora Atacama

Activities Offered by your Lodge

During the morning you will enjoy the activity that you have chosen.The Lodge offers over 40 different guided hikes, bike rides, high mountain hikes and horseback rides, in groups of maximum 8 travelers. All our excursions have different difficulty levels, ranging from easy to expert, and different durations, from half day to full day.

In the evening you can enjoy stargazing sessions at the Explora observatory.

Day 8 - Explora Atacama

Activities Offered by your Lodge

Day at leisure to do any other activity from the great variety offered by this amazing lodge.We recommend that you consult about the dinners in the lodge’s Quincho. In this barbeque area, two to three times a week, you can enjoy a traditional barbeque of lamb, beef and fish, as well as other local dishes – all accompanied by Andean music and song and dance performances by accomplished local artists.

Day 9 - Return to the Capital

Morning Activity / Flight to Santiago

This day, after breakfast, you will have free time to explore any of the self guided trails, or just to relax at any of the areas of the lodge. At the appropriate time, you will have a transfer from your hotel the airport.Welcome back to Santiago!

You don’t have any scheduled activities from now… but, we recommend that you keep on exploring! Santiago de Chile is an exciting city, full of history and architectural treasures.

Day 10 - Homeward Bound

Return Home

At the appropriate time, we will bring you to the airport for your journey home. Your host will help you to check-in to your flight and wish you buen viaje!
